Beta Phi Mu Appoints New Editors for Monograph Series

Lorraine J. Haricombe, Dean of Libraries, University of Kansas and Keith Russell, Librarian for Life Sciences, Engineering and General Science, Anschutz Library, University of Kansas have been appointed Editor and Associate Editor, respectively, for the Beta Phi Mu International Library & Information Studies Honor Society Monograph Series.

The Beta Phi Mu Monograph Series is a successor to the Chapbook Series (published from 1952-1989). Begun in 1990, this series is published by Greenwood Press for Beta Phi Mu. Proceeds from the sale of titles in this series are used to support the annual ALA Beta Phi Mu Award. Scroll down for a current listing of titles.

 

Lorraine J. Haricombe

Lorraine J. Haricombe is the dean of the University of Kansas Libraries, which serves more than 25,000 students and 1,300 faculty members. KU Libraries include 4 million volumes and 33,000 current serial titles housed in seven library facilities on the Lawrence and Overland Park campuses.

Prior to joining KU in 2006, she was dean of libraries at Bowling Green State University for five years. She previously served in administrative positions in the libraries at Northern Illinois University and Peninsula Technikon in the Republic of South Africa. She holds doctoral and master’s degrees in library and information science from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. She also holds a teacher certification from the University of South Africa, an honors graduate degree in library and information science from the University of the Western Cape in South Africa and a bachelor’s degree in library and information science, psychology and sociology from the University of the Western Cape.

A South Africa native, Haricombe holds memberships in the American Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries, the Library Leadership and Management Association and the Association of American University Women.

 

Keith Russell

Keith Russell is librarian for life sciences, engineering, and general science at the University of Kansas (KU). Prior appointments include Dean of Libraries at KU, Deputy Director of the National Agricultural Library, and various positions at the Council on Library Resources (CLR), the University of Arizona, and the University of Texas at Austin.

Most of his recent publications have focused on organizational development in libraries. Prior editing experience includes co-editorship of three Library Trends issues and an editing role with the Bibliographic Service Development Program publication series at CLR.

His graduate library degree is from the University of Illinois (UI), and he has an M. S. (botany) from UI and a B.S. (biology) from Illinois State University. He is a member of the American Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries, the Library Leadership and Management Association, and the Organization Development Network.
